How long have you been teaching? 4 years

Why became a teacher? To understand yoga at a deeper level. I knew how it made me

feel, and I wanted to understand at a deeper level why it has such a profound effect on


Favorite pose and why? Ardha Chandrachapasana (Sugar Cane Pose): Because I love

the story behind the pose and how “Sweet” it feels when I get into it. After all,

something that strikes to the heart of your deepest desires can be only one thing:

Motivational tip or favorite quote?

Watch your thoughts; they become words.

Watch your words; they become actions.

Watch your actions; they become habits.

Watch your habits; they become character.

Watch your character; for it becomes your destiny.

Advice to beginners? Don’t worry about doing it perfect, listen to your body and if

you are feeling pain - then adjust to no pain. Each body is unique and will look its own

unique way, not always like a “yoga picture”.

Where can we find you when not at Heat? Riding my bike, reading a book, walking

on one of the amazing trails in Maple Grove, teaching YIN yoga, gatherings with friends

and family & lots of traveling. I have one daughter who is living down in Ft. Meyers,

Florida - My husband and I travel there frequently to spend time with her, especially in

the winter month’s!

Who knew (fun bit of info about you)? I rode a mechanical bull for the first time as

one of my “things to do my 50th year of life”. The adventure and experience;

priceless. The video of it; never to be shared;) It actually happened when I was in

Austin, Texas for a Yoga Wanderlust festival.

What do you emphasize in your class? What would you like students to gain from

your class? To listen to their bodies - you don’t have to feel “intense” sensation to get

results. Overall, I would like them to feel that the 60 minutes of time in their day that

they made for yoga was the best 60 minutes of their day, physically, mentally, and


Tell us about other jobs (other than yoga teacher) that you do or what you did

before teaching yoga: I teach physical education in the Minnetonka School District.

Coached competitive level volleyball for years - moved from extreme competition to

yoga. It’s been an amazing transition.

What have you learned about yourself, on the mat, that is applicable to life of the

mat? That less can often be more. That even when I thought I was “taking it easy” or

not pushing myself too much - I actually was. My body responds much quicker and

feels better when I listen to it, instead of push it. And, might I add, when I listen to it

with compassion, acceptance, and love.

What diference have you noticed in your body or overall health since practicing

yoga? Increased flexibility, decrease in overall body aches and pains, a much better

presence in everything I do, and increased body tone - decreased body fat.
